E3 2018: Life Is Strange Spin-Off Captain Spirit Gets Adorable Trailer
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a spin-off game of Life is Strange, and it’s set in the same universe. Captain Spirit will release as a free download on June 26.
The Awesome Adventure of Captain Spirit’s first trailer premiered during Xbox’s E3 2018 press conference. The trailer depicted a young boy who’s greatest talent is his imagination. He thinks of himself as a superhero and explorer who fights against evil forces on his journey.
The trailer suggests that players will jump back and forth between the protagonist’s real life and his imaginative world. Near the end of the trailer, we saw Captain Spirit light a firecracker in a snowman’s mouth before the scene flashed into Spirit’s mind to show him summoning a fireball to destroy the foe in front of him.
At another point in the trailer, Spirit was playing in his tree house and pretending to fly through space. As he descended the ladder back to his backyard lawn, the world transformed into a twisted, dark world of fire and shadow. How these transitions directly translate gameplay-wise remains to be seen.
