Derrick Hoh wants ‘toxic masculinity’ eliminated; suggests having more ‘Dad-friendly nursing rooms’ in Singapore malls

Derrick Hoh, a 37-year-old Singaporean singer, became really immersed in fatherhood when he welcomed his daughter, Nori Hoh, last August 2022.

With this, he shared an Instagram post regarding his sentiments on nursing rooms in Singapore. “Is it just me or there are quite a lot of malls with nursing rooms that do not allow fathers to enter?” he said.

He exclaimed that people are trying to eliminate the context of toxic masculinity, however, situations like this do not give fathers justice, especially if they want to help their partners with baby care.

The singer took the opportunity to thank JEM, located in Jurong East, which is the most dad-friendly nursing room he has ever been to.

“It has doors that will only open for parents with children or babies, which makes it extremely exclusive and clean as a result. They even have a toilet for you to accompany your child to do their business without a need for you to bring your daughter to the men’s room,” he shared.

He said that it would really be awkward for her daughter to be in the gentlemen’s washroom just because his wife, Jellies, is not with them.

Derrick decided not to mention the worst nursing homes that they had visited. The worst we’ve visited? Erm… Let’s just focus on the positives haha…” he added.

Opening up a discussion, other people shared their insights by commenting on the post:
