Deadpool’s Animated TV Show Is Falling Apart, Loses Donald Glover

It was an intriguing bit of news last year when it was announced that Donald Glover and FX were teaming up for a new animated Deadpool TV show. Unfortunately, it’s falling apart.

Donald Glover, his brother Stephen, and network FX have announced that they have separated from Marvel TV on the show due to “creative differences,” according to Entertainment Weekly. Right now we don’t know if the Deadpool show is scrapped for good or if Marvel TV will try to bring it back to life with a different network and cast.

The canceled show was to run for 10 episodes in its first season, which was pegged to premiere in 2018 on FX sister channel FXX. Glover and his brother Stephen were tapped to be the program’s showrunners, producers, and writers.

It would have been the second TV collaboration between FX and Marvel, following Legion in 2017. FX co-president of original programming Nick Grad said when the Deadpool show was announced that the program was aiming to be “bold, striking, and entirely original.”

Glover is known for a lot of projects, but perhaps most notably as the creator and star of the comedy-drama Atlanta. He also starred on the TV show Community and had a part in Spider-Man: Homecoming after he voiced Miles Morales in the animated series Ultimate Spider-Man. Glover will be seen next on the big-screen as Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars spinoff Solo.

While the animated Deadpool TV show might not be happening anytime soon, Deadpool 2 starring Ryan Reynolds is due to hit theatres this summer. The newest trailer was released this week, and it introduced some of the sequel’s new characters.
