Civilian and security guard yell at each other at Mustafa, netizens divided over who’s at fault

SINGAPORE — A video of a quarrel at Mustafa was shared with an online group on Tuesday (Jan 7). The quarrel seemed to be between a security guard and a civilian. The 31-second video featured both parties yelling at each other.

Though the cause of the quarrel is unclear, the video seems to revolve around the civilian’s bag. Furthermore, online users came to their own conclusions. Some sided with the civilian, and others with the security guard.

“Mustafa securities are bullies,” one said. Another wrote, “Yes. Security there are very rude. In fact, most of the staff at Mustafa, especially the sales girls–they think they are from the upper caste. They alwys think that our bangla brothers can be bullied.”

Another netizen shared a past experience with a Mustafa security guard, saying “Yes that’s true…not all security guards there, but some frinds (and I) had a bad experience in Mustafa three years ago…since (then), (we have) never visited that mall anymore…although we are looking forward to visit anytime…only to see this incident again makes us disappointed.”

Others, however, saw otherwise, and sided with the security guard, seeing the need for strictness in a place like Mustafa. “The security have to be strict there, if in home country kena cane already,” said one. Another wrote, “Security always get bullied.”

Still, a third cited all the foot traffic Mustafa gets, arguing, “(There are)…too many ppl in and out (of Mustafa)…very hard to detect…they should not allow any bags in premises.”
