Aggressive breast cancers may contribute to racial survival disparities

In the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, UNC Lineberger researchers led an analysis of approximately 1,000 invasive breast tumors. The study confirmed that young black women are more likely to have a type of breast cancer that does not express any of the receptors for targeted biologic therapies. The study also identified variation by race within a clinical breast cancer type that has the greatest mortality disparity.
